Sometimes it seems the world’s most successful people must have something we don’t. We assume they must be incredibly intelligent or must have ideas no one else has ever considered.

In all truth, most of us are capable of coming up with genius business ideas. But what sets the successful people apart from the pack is their persistence! When successful people come up with a great idea they get it on its feet and keep it moving until they reach their goal.

So, when you do inevitably falter on your journey as a Servant Leader (we all do now and then!) remember that your associates are depending on you to be persistent.

It’s ok to trip up occasionally—we’re all human! I think we’ve all had moments when we think “that wasn’t very Servant Leadership-like of me”. Perhaps you made a decision selfishly or ignored an associate’s legitimate needs. But your true character shows through when you’re able to pick yourself up and continue on.

The next time you feel as though you’re not living up to your Servant Leadership potential, forgive yourself and hop right back on the path. This road may not be the easiest one, but the rewards along the way are incredible.
